Mara Montenegro, MD

Mara Rose Montenegro, MD, sees patients at the SSM Health Medical Group's family medicine practice in Purcell, Oklahoma. She provides primary care to patients of all ages, assessing, diagnosing and treating patients with acute and chronic illness.

Montenegro grew up in the small rural town of Valliant, Oklahoma. She was excited to join the practice in Purcell, where she can build strong relationships with patients and help improve access to healthcare in a smaller community.

"Coming from a rural community myself, serving patients in a smaller community feels very meaningful and closely aligns with the kind of physician I have always hoped to become," she said.

Prior to joining the Purcell practice, Montenegro was seeing patients as a Family Medicine resident physician with SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City, where she served as chief resident. She earned her medical degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine after graduating from OU in Norman with a degree in biology and minor in chemistry.
