The Society of Hospital Medicine defines a hospitalist as a physician who delivers comprehensive medical care to acutely ill, hospitalized patients. Dr. Takaaki Ishiyama is a hospitalist who treats adult patients at SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital. He uses the latest technologies in his practice, including bedside ultrasound imaging.

Dr. Ishiyama is an assistant professor of internal medicine at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. In addition to teaching at SLU, he hosts a daily web conference for Japanese medical students and internal medicine residents.

Outside of work, Dr. Ishiyama enjoys road biking.
