The Society of Hospital Medicine defines a hospitalist as a physician who delivers comprehensive medical care to acutely ill, hospitalized patients. Dr. Philip Vaidyan is a hospitalist who treats adult patients at SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital. His areas of interest include quality improvement, bedside teaching, population health and more.

Dr. Vaidyan is a professor of internal medicine and division director of general internal medicine at Saint Louis University School of Medicine.

He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and a member of the American Medical Association and Society of Hospital Medicine.

Outside of work, Dr. Vaidyan enjoys reading about economics, finance, politics and health policy.
