Dr. Matthew "Matt" Ricks is a board-certified general surgeon who cares for adults ages 18 and over and sees patients throughout the St. Louis metropolitan area. He focuses on advanced laparoscopic and endoscopic care, offering minimally invasive surgical options to support faster recovery and improved outcomes.
Dr. Ricks has a special interest in minimally invasive treatment of upper digestive tract conditions, including hiatal hernias and other stomach procedures, as well as abdominal wall hernias and gallbladder disease, using advanced techniques to reduce discomfort and help patients return to their daily lives more quickly.
In his practice, Dr. Ricks believes in providing high quality care by combining technical precision with a straightforward, patient-centered approach. He values clear communication and thoughtful decision-making, understanding that great surgical care is not only about the operation itself, but also about sound judgment, a calm presence when challenges arise, and treating every patient with the same level of care he would want for his own family. His goal is to deliver care that is both compassionate and highly focused, so patients feel confident, informed, and well cared for throughout their surgical journey.
Dr. Ricks is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, the Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons, and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons.
Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his wife and family, being outdoors, hiking, following sports, and making the most of life beyond the operating room.
