Cherry Cockrell, MD

Cherry Cockrell, MD, family medicine, provides compassionate primary care for children and adults. Dr. Cockrell enjoys solving problems in a practical and impactful way, thus sparking her interest in medicine. She enjoys building relationships with her patients and collaborating on their health decisions.

Dr. Cockrell graduated from Oklahoma State University with a bachelor's degree in French before earning a medical degree from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. Dr. Cockrell then finished a family medicine residency program in St. Louis, where she received the Association of Family Medicine Residency Directors Advocacy Award. Prior to joining SSM Health, she has more than five years of experience in clinical and urgent care settings.

Dr. Cockrell has been published multiple times for her studies in sexual education and diagnostic testing for patients with rare disorders. She has also received certifications by the Obesity Medicine Board & Telehealth Certification Institute. In addition to providing comprehensive primary care for children and adults, Dr. Cockrell is interested in helping patients with weight loss and bariatric medicine, as well as nutrition and lifestyle advice. She is passionate about helping patients with issues involving blood sugar and high blood pressure.

After growing up in Stillwater, Dr. Cockrell is delighted to return home to Oklahoma. When not caring for her patients, Dr. Cockrell enjoys reading, baking, scrapbooking, yoga, Pilates and spending time with her family. She is also currently learning French. Dr. Cockrell is involved in the community, volunteering with the Special Olympics athlete program and walking dogs at the Edmond Animal Shelter.
