Youssef Shammaa, MD

Dr. Youssef Shammaa is a board-certified physician specializing in Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine. He completed a Sleep Medicine Fellowship at Detroit Medical Center - Wayne State University (2024-2025), following a Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship at Staten Island University Hospital (2021-2024), where he also served as Chief Resident in Internal Medicine.

Dr. Shammaa earned his medical degree from the Lebanese University Faculty of Medical Sciences and has extensive clinical experience, including rotations in high-acuity ICU settings. He is a member of the American Board of Internal Medicine, American Thoracic Society, American College of Chest Physicians, and the Society of Critical Care Medicine.

Fluent in Arabic and English, with intermediate proficiency in French and beginner-level Spanish, Dr. Shammaa is also an active researcher. His work includes original research, case reports, and conference abstracts on topics such as COPD readmissions, pulmonary embolism, and invasive fungal diseases. He has presented at major conferences, including the American Thoracic Society and the American College of Chest Physicians.

Outside of medicine, he enjoys reading, writing, bouldering, hiking, and spending quality time with family.

Dr. Shammaa sees patients 18 years and older for conditions including lung and breathing disorders, including lung cancer and sleep disorders.
