Steven Kagen, MD

Dr. Steve Kagen is a board-certified allergy, asthma and immunology specialist who graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Madison with an honors degree in molecular biology, where he also earned his medical degree.

Steve is board certified in internal medicine and diagnostic allergy-immunology having trained at Northwestern University and the Medical College of Wisconsin. He returned to northeast Wisconsin to open The Kagen Allergy Clinics in Appleton, Green Bay, Oshkosh, and Fond du Lac.

Steve has been active in allergy research, having created the first test-yourself-kit for HIV in 1983, the first blood test for Lyme disease in Wisconsin and over 200 other allergy blood tests. He was also awarded several U.S. patents for discovering dust mite and insect allergens.

In 2006, Steve ran for public office for the first time in his life to guarantee access to health care for all of us - and he succeeded. Dr. Kagen passed federal legislation that ended discrimination against patients with pre-existing medical conditions - and now no family will go broke and lose their home just because someone has an accident or becomes seriously ill.

In Congress, Steve helped enact laws to protect our environment including the Great Lakes Compact, the Great Lakes Restoration Act, the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts, and secured funding to remove PCBs from the Fox River.

He practices allergy, asthma and immunology in association with SSM's caring physicians and nurses here in Fond du lac.
