Prior to working in the SSM Health Express and Pediatric Express clinics in Shawnee, Mikayla worked in the SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital - Shawnee Emergency Room for seven years. Her emergency care background makes her specifically qualified to provide a wide range of urgent care for all ages.

Sims grew up in Midwest City and graduated from Carl Albert High School. She earned a Master of Health Sciences in Physician Assistant Studies degree from the University of Oklahoma - Tulsa College of Community Medicine. She had previously earned a Bachelor of Science in Natural Sciences degree from Oklahoma Baptist University.
