Mauricio Avila, MD

Dr. Mauricio Avila is a neurosurgeon who specializes in complex and minimally invasive spine surgery for an array of spinal conditions and disorders, including spinal deformities, degenerative spine disease, spinal trauma, spine tumors, spinal cord tumors, spinal infections, spinal stenosis, sciatica, neck and back pain, scoliosis, and spondylolisthesis.

Dr. Avila's mission is to help patients and their families understand their spine conditions and treatment options (non-surgical and surgical), utilizing the most up-to-date, evidence-based practice and techniques. He performs disc replacement, less invasive spine surgery, spinal instrumentation, spinal reconstruction, spine and back surgery, spondylolisthesis reduction surgery, and vertebroplasty.

Dr. Avila is an assistant professor with the Division of Neurosurgery in the Department of Surgery at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. He is a member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons; American Association of Neurological Surgeons; AO Spine Foundation; and North American Spine Society.
