Dr. Smeds is interested in research into smoking cessation and risk factor modification in vascular disease, and outcomes research in vascular surgery.
He is an associate professor and chief of the Division of Vascular Surgery in the Department of Surgery at Saint Louis University School of Medicine.
Professional memberships include: Association for Program Directors in Vascular Surgery; Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Society; Society for Vascular Surgery; Association for Academic Surgery; and the Association for the Treatment of Tobacco Use and Dependence. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
