John Phelan, MD

Scheduling is extremely difficult and it appears it is out if his control. He doesn't have time to refresh his memory on my history and doesn't have time to review the complexities of multiple diagnoses from other departments. As a result he rates lower on this survey.

A friend recommended him to me and I'm so glad I went to see Dr. Phelan!

I trust him completely and I like him.....good combination. I've had other heart doctors that I trusted and stayed with because I trusted them but didn't like them.

The scheduling process for follow up care is extremely frustrating. Calendars are not available to schedule with the provider as directed by the provider.

Everything with Dr. Phelan was fine. But wish I could of gotten an appointment with him in Sauk City sooner than 6 months so I at age 80 wouldn't of had to go to Madison to see him. That disappointed me. I thought the idea of having specialist come to our rural hospital was so elderly people wouldn't have to go to Madison to be seen by a specialist.

I shared my frustrations with Dr. Phelan regarding the scheduling process for follow up appointments. The only reason I was able to schedule with him was because of a cancellation by another patient. Typically, I am told that he doesn't have any appointments available within the time frame that I am to follow up with him and that I need to call back at another time. He had his staff work directly with me instead of going through the typical scheduling process. That worked great for me but seems to be a roadblock if going through the typical process of calling the schedulers.

He let me drop my medications.

I already have. He is a good Dr, & treats me like I am Special.

Once again, Dr Phelan is an excellent doctor and very personable. I truly feel that he cares about my well being and I am confident that he has addressed all of my issues effectively. I worked at UW hospital for 32 years with many different doctors and I can sense who cares and is genuine. Dr. Phelan is not only genuine but very talented.

The only issue at this visit was the wait time after RN checked me in. Dr. Phelan stated he appreciated my patince, as he had "a few patients to check on in the Hospital" - I believe I waited approx 40 minutes for him to come into the room. I almost walked out, as I had other appointments, but he came in JUST in the knick of time

Superb cardiologist!

Scheduling with Dr. Phelan is very difficult. Told to follow up in a certain amount of time but yet told by scheduling staff that his schedule isn't open that far out.
