Dr. Christensen's practice is focused on knee ligament construction including ACL and PCL reconstruction, meniscal repair and transplantation, patellar instability, focal cartilage restoration, and osteotomies of the knee. He also performs shoulder surgery including shoulder replacement and shoulder arthroscopy (including rotator cuff repair, instability, and proximal biceps issues), Achilles tendon repair, exertional compartment syndrome, hamstring repairs, and distal biceps repairs. He also treats bursitis, tendonitis, and strains and sprains.
Dr. Christensen is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Christensen also covers the La Follette football games during the fall season.
In his free time, Dr. Christensen enjoys spending time with his wife, who is also in healthcare, their daughter, and their two dogs. He also enjoys hiking, working out, playing sports, and watching University of Wisconsin athletics and Chicago sports teams.
Their family likes to travel when possible. A couple of their favorite locations were Iceland and Banff, Alberta, Canada because they are great outdoor areas with wonderful people where one can get lost and enjoy all that nature has to offer.
"It is important that patients feel like they have been heard. Addressing their concerns and including them in shared decision making helps to develop the best course to treat the problem at hand. Each patient deserves an individualized treatment plan." - Jay Christensen, MD
