Dr. Ayalew is board-certified in internal medicine, hematology and medical oncology. He is a member of the American Societies of Hematology and Clinical Oncology as well as the American College of Physicians.

He received his medical degree from Gondar College of Medical sciences, Ethiopia and completed his residency and fellowship at the SUNY Downstate Medical Center in New York where he also became the chief fellow.

Dr. Ayalew treats patients from 18 years and older and is excited to bring his expertise to the SSM Cancer Care team.

Dr. Ayalew genuinely cares about his patients, and that compassion is evident in everything he does. He is not only an exceptionally knowledgeable and experienced oncologist, but also a doctor who truly listens, communicates, and treats every patient with dignity, kindness, and respect. What stands out most to me is that Dr. Ayalew goes far beyond simply providing medical care—he makes you feel that your health, your well-being, and your life genuinely matter to him. His professionalism, positivity, compassion, and dedication are truly remarkable. I feel incredibly blessed and grateful to have Dr. Ayalew as part of my healthcare journey. During a time when having the right doctor can make such a tremendous difference, his encouragement, knowledge, and genuine concern have meant more to me than words can express.
