Rocha completed medical school at Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil. He then came to the United States and completed a general surgery clerkship and a colorectal surgery internship at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, N.Y. Rocha then completed research fellowships at Mount Sinai Hospital for colon and rectal surgery, at the Los Angeles County - University of Southern California Medical Center for trauma, emergency surgery and surgical critical care, and a clinical fellowship in vascular surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Additionally, Rocha completed residency programs at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson, Ariz., and the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. He also has completed nine medical education certificates. Rocha has also taught clinical surgery students at the University of Missouri School of Medicine - Springfield Clinical Campus in Springfield, Mo..
He is a member of seven research certification programs. Rocha is a member of the American Board of Surgery, Society for Vascular Surgery, and the American College of Surgeons.
He is fluent in Portuguese, Spanish and English.
When not providing care for his patients, Dr. Rocha enjoys photography, diving, playing tennis, watching soccer, spending time with his three boys, and growing orchids at his home.
