Dr. Behr, born and raised in St. Charles County, is board certified in general surgery with a specialty in breast surgical oncology. She received her medical degree from Saint Louis University School of Medicine in St. Louis in 2009. She then went on to complete her internship and residency in general surgery at Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, NY. Behr then did her fellowship in breast surgical oncology at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
Dr. Behr takes special interest in the spectrum of breast diseases including new breast masses, abnormal mammograms, nipple discharge, breast cancer and breast pain. She consults with patients at higher-risk, such as those with a family history of breast cancer or prior breast biopsies showing atypical findings.
Dr. Behr is a member of the American College of Surgeons, Association of Women Surgeons and American Society of Breast Surgeons.
"Building a trusting relationship with my patients is my first priority. I treat each person as if they were my family member. Together, through open and honest discussion, we develop a feeling of comfort with and confidence in me and the entire SSM Health breast care team." - Andrea Behr, MD, FACS
Dr. Behr has completed extensive training in Hidden Scar® Breast Cancer Surgery, an advanced approach to removing breast cancer. She performs both Hidden Scar Lumpectomy/Partial Mastectomy and Hidden Scar Mastectomy procedures. During Hidden Scar® Breast Cancer Surgery, the incision is made in the fold under the breast, around the edge of the nipple area or in the armpit, so the scar is less visible after breast surgery.
