Ali Alsarah, MD

Dr. Ali Alsarah is a neurologist specializing in neurocritical care, vascular neurology, and general neurology, caring for adult patients throughout the St. Louis metropolitan area.

Dr. Alsarah provides comprehensive care for patients with serious and sudden brain and spinal cord conditions, including stroke, bleeding in or around the brain, traumatic brain injury, prolonged seizures, and other neurologic emergencies. He is highly experienced in the evaluation and management of acute stroke, including clot‑busting medications and specialized care following advanced stroke procedures. Dr. Alsarah also provides inpatient neurology consultations and works closely with critical care teams to coordinate complex care for hospitalized patients.

Dr. Alsarah's approach to medicine centers on high‑quality, evidence‑based care delivered with compassion. He is dedicated to supporting patients and families during some of the most challenging moments of their lives, combining clinical excellence, education, and innovation to improve outcomes for those with acute neurologic illness.

His research interests include improving care for patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage and stroke, understanding brain injury and recovery, advancing neuromonitoring in critical care, strengthening stroke systems of care, refining neurologic prognostication after brain injury, and integrating artificial intelligence into neuroimaging and clinical decision‑making.

Dr. Alsarah is an assistant professor in the Department of Neurology, Division of Neurocritical Care at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, the Neurocritical Care Society, and the Society of Vascular and Interventional Neurology.
