Dr. Smiley uses the latest technologies in his practice: airway evaluation by flexible bronchoscopy, pulmonary function testing, respiratory muscle strength assessment, lung diffusion assessment, lung volume assessment, and exhaled nitric oxide measurements.
His research interests include cystic fibrosis, health disparities in asthma and quality improvement initiatives.
Dr. Smiley is an associate professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine, at Saint Louis University School of Medicine.
His memberships include the American Academy of Pediatrics and American Thoracic Society.
Dr. Smiley spent 14 years in the U.S. Navy as a physician and is currently finishing his military career in the Air Force Reserves.
