Dr. van Bosse's involvement in patient support groups shaped his sense of responsibility to advocate for his patients. His goal in treating children in general is to help them reach their fullest potential. In children with arthrogryposis, this can mean both addressing their orthopedic needs and helping them to function/adapt with any the limitations they may have. For children with PWS, his efforts have been largely treating the very young child with PWS and spine deformities. For these children, treatments devoted to the least invasive modalities that will preserve spinal growth and chest development are emphasized.
Dr. van Bosse is active in several professional organizations including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America, Limb Lengthening and Reconstruction Society, Scoliosis Research Society, and Ponseti International Association. Moreover, he is on advisory boards of national and international Prader-Willli syndrome organizations, on the board of directors for AMC Support and for A Leg To Stand On, a non-governmental organization. He has taught the Ponseti Clubfoot Casting technique at workshops in India, Haiti and Peru, and participated in medical missions in Colombia.
