Ayham Alkarmi, MD Otolaryngology in St. Louis, MO

Dr. Ayham Alkarmi is a general and pediatric otolaryngologist with a special interest in rhinology. He cares for patients of all ages throughout the St. Louis metropolitan area. Dr. Alkarmi provides evidence-based care across the full spectrum of otolaryngology, with particular expertise in advanced rhinology, minimally invasive sinus procedures, and sleep medicine.

His areas of expertise include medical and surgical management of sinus conditions, such as acute and chronic sinusitis and nasal polyps. He also treats adenotonsillar disease, including conditions related to sleep apnea, upper airway resistance, and recurrent tonsillitis. In pediatric patients, he provides care for recurrent ear infections, tongue-tie, and congenital neck masses.

His procedural expertise includes functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS), balloon sinuplasty and tympanostomy tube placement. Dr. Alkarmi also offers advanced, minimally invasive treatments for chronic nasal symptoms, including office-based balloon sinuplasty and targeted posterior nasal nerve ablation using radiofrequency energy or cryotherapy.

His current research interests focus on biologic therapies and disease endotyping for chronic rhinosinusitis.

Dr. Alkarmi is an assistant professor in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Division of General Otolaryngology, at Saint Louis University School of Medicine.
